Internship: Day One

For the first day of my internship with Kimberlee Jaynes Interior Designs, Kim and Skip picked me up at Bedford Brown and we went back to the studio. She showed me around and gave me the low down on the week ahead of us. By the way, Skip is her dog that comes almost everywhere with us. As most people know, I am not a huge animal lover so this will be quite the adjustment. Luckily Skip is probably the best dog I could ask to be around and he doesn't bark and jump all over everyone. He is very calm and professional to say the least. Everybody loves him and he has a girlfriend almost everywhere we go (I’m the exception of course). We'll see if I convert :)

Later, we met with a new potential client for a color consultation at the Casey Condos in the Pearl District. A little FYI for you green people out there, the Casey Condos are actually the first LEED Platinum building in Portland. For lunch Kim took me out to her favorite French Restaurant for a salad. They have the cutest take out boxes! Unfortunately I didn't snap a photo in time, but hopefully we'll go back soon and I will take a photo to show you all.

We spent the rest of the afternoon making stops and working on her current projects. We found the perfect bedding for a bedroom we're working on at French Quarter Linens. Our next stop was at Parker Furniture to put in an order for some theater chairs. At Kravet we found a nice watercolor striped fabric for the draperies. Our search also consisted of an Italian table cloth for our "Dining with Designers" event that we will be hosting this Saturday evening (more info will come about that event). Our goal was something red, yellow and blue. We rummaged through table cloths at Tuesday Morning and TJ Maxx before finding our Beauty at Marshalls. Nevermind the fact that it could go French, Mexican, or Italian :) Ha. It will be perfect!

Rose Festival

Zack and I attended the Rose Festival this weekend along the Columbia River. It consisted of a nighttime parade, shopping, animals, rides, and of course…food vendors! Our ride of the night was the Ferris wheel, where we took in the beautiful view of the buildings, river, and bridges (By the way, there are so many bridges here! They are all so different too. I need to start keeping track of all of them. I cross at least three of them going to work each day, which is kind of a perk I guess). Oh, and on our jaunt down to the festival, some guy tried to give us his sob story of why he needed our money. Sorry guy! It was a little too rehearsed for us. We may be out-of-towners but come on! Anyhow, we ended the night with a duke corn dog and strawberry funnel cake. We were all fried out by the time we left that festival!

Home Sweet Home

After a rainy twelve hour drive, Zack and I have officially arrived to our first home together! This is our new pad. Thanks to Grandma Jones, this blanket is the only ounce of personality our apartment consists of since we're only here for the summer. From the photograph you may be questioning if our bed is a twin or full. Pretty sure it's in between the two.... a.k.a. it's tiny!! It has been an adjustment :)
